Is Simplx a Scam???

September 16th, 2009

You don’t have to look very far into forums to see discussions or rather statements from people claiming Simplx is a scam.  Frankly, I am sick and tired of all of the negative publicity and false statements that may scare people away from trying to make Simplx work for them when those people (the ones that never try it for themselves) are probably the ones that really could be blessed by what Simplx could do for them personally.  So…let’s have an open and transparent discussion about the negativity that you can find online about Simplx.  How did this happen?  Why is there so much negative publicity about a product that I stand here and claim will make you money?  I think we can better answer these questions by looking at what people are saying about Simplx.

Simplx is not a wholesale drop shipper (TRUE, Simplx is a retail drop shipper and connects you with stores that pay you a commission to resell their product and then they ship it for you)

Simplx is a rip off (maybe I’m biased here but with an option to try our program free for 7 days and get ALL your money back if you don’t like it, and pay just $40 per month if you do like it, I’m going to have to say FALSE)

Simplx is a scam (As FALSE as my dead Grandpa Wilkinson’s teeth…may he rest in peace)

Simplx is just an affiliate marketing program (TRUE! Simplx uses traditional affiliate marketing relationships and gives clients the full negotiated commission when they sell a product.  With millions of dollars of products moving through Simplx merchants, Simplx is able to negotiate top tier commissions with their contracts.  This is what Simplx clients get for their $40 per month.  In a later blog I will post my sales report tracker and you will see that this key element is the difference between breaking even [without the Simplx commission in my own eBay business] and making a $13,000 profit last month [with the Simplx commission])

Simplx can’t help you make money (umm FALSE see this post)

Simplx costs $5000 (FALSE, there are several different pricing options to get started with Simplx, just like with any company.  The majority of all Simplx clients get started with a package less than $200 and $40 per month.  Simplx products and pricing have evolved over time and we have charged clients $5000 or more in the past, but the value of what we have offered for that price has always been justified and supported.  Recently we have focused on providing much smaller price points with less one on one training and support.  As of today I have decided to reintroduce the $5000 option for a select few businesses that want one on one training and attention from me.  I can guarantee success when I hold your hand and walk you through the steps of creating a successful eBay business, but I get to choose who I work with :).  If time weren’t a limitation I wish nothing more than to provide that same service and personal attention to every Simplx client)

Simplx just sends you to websites the general public can buy from (TRUE, stay tuned for a whole blog I can’t wait to dedicate to this topic)

Simplx customer service sucks (I’m going to have to say TRUE AND FALSE.  We’ve made mistakes and left some customers feeling less than respected and appreciated in the past I’m sure.  I sat down last month with the entire company and gave an hour long presentation with one message to everyone….WE ARE A CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTRIC COMPANY.  Everyone needs to do better at providing top notch customer service….developers, salespeople, customer service reps, trainers, administrators, and me.  We can do better.  We will do better.  That is our commitment to you)

Simplx stole X dollars from me (FALSE, we don’t steal; we never have.  We have written and/or verbal record of every customer that has ever given us permission to charge their credit card for the service we offer and a corresponding record of that service being provided according to the documentation they signed.  If a customer is not happy with doing business with us, then let’s find out why and we will make them happy)

Simplx is not a member of the BBB (TRUE, the BBB is a paid membership program.  We have never paid for a membership into the BBB, but have applied for membership in the past.  Two years ago we met with the fine young ladies that run the BBB of Utah as they made a visit to our offices in Springville.  Their message to us was they would like to see us go 2 years from that meeting date with 0 unresolved BBB complaints on our record and they would approve our application for a membership.  We met that goal just recently and resubmitted our application to them.  Regardless of their decision for membership our internal commitment to our customers does not change.  YOU WILL BE SATISFIED!!!  Let us hear from you if you are not and we will make it right)

Ok, am I missing anything?  I spent a considerable amount of time tonight scouring the forums to make sure I didn’t miss any of the statements.  It is long overdue that I addressed these statements publicly.  I do have to say that there are several very colorful anonymous individuals out there that seem to have some beef with Simplx.  My message to you is, if you feel you have been wronged in anyway then please tell us who you are and let us help you.

I think this blog became more about addressing the TRUE AND FALSE statements that have been presented in the forums with so much negativity that I never really addressed some of the initial questions we posed…..but no worries…..we’ll save it for Is Simplx a Scam??? PART 2.

You state that if i am not satisfied, you want to hear about it and make it right. It is now September 2009 and i still have not received my rebate checks dated 4/22/09 and 6/29/09. I have contacted every email address and phone number that i could find for your company and everyone gives me the runaround. And yet i am still charged my monthly fees by your company. Sounds like a scam to me.

  2. Adam Says:

    Hi Harold,

Thank you for your comment. I apologize that you feel like you have received the runaround. I recognized your name immediately because I just approved a check for you yesterday for purchases you made from Time Life; I believe the check is for $700 or $800. If you have pending commissions that you have not received then you should not be getting charged monthly fees. I will talk to Amanda today to make sure that is corrected. If you feel like you are getting the run around in the future then please contact me directly at Adam@Simplx.com and I will do everything I possibly can to provide you with the service you need and deserve.

    Best Regards,
    Adam

I have a concern. It says above that you are not a drop shipping company yet, on the application for membership, it says “Simplx is a dropshipper.” Please provide clarification as I have read thru the site, with interest as well as concern. Thanks.

  4. Adam Says:

    Hi Aaron,

Thank you for your comment and concern. Simplx does not warehouse products and fulfill orders on your behalf. Simplx negotiates commissions and discounts on your behalf with merchants that will drop ship products to your customers.

I hope that answers your questions. Please let me know if you need me to clarify it further.

    Best Regards,
    Adam

  5. Jesse Says:

I have a question – observation. On your main website page http://www.simplx.com you use the Kodak z16 as example of a product I could sell. You state that the price on Ebay for that camera is $130. Yet, completed listings on EBay show that the camera never sold for more than the $96.10. And there are numerous listings for Kodak Z16 cameras that never sold during the listing period.

This leaves me with the impression that you have overpriced products that I will never be able to sell for any profit on EBay.

Would you be able to actually show any product examples that wouldn’t fail an elementary research tactic like checking completed auctions?

  6. anelli Says:

Recently, I was contacted by a couple of pleasant Simplx reps after filling out some form at the Simplx website and I was really excited about the possibility of signing up. However, I am presently going through the process of doing my homework about the company and in the process, I came across the forum and this blog and I have to admit that I’m disenchanted and deflated. The question postulated right above my comment for instance is very valid; I did the same eBay checking with the products advertised and came away with the same result.

Is there such a thing as a transparent and honest drop shipping business out there?

  7. someone left in the dark Says:

I have applied for the simplx memebership but never got a response from them. I tried emailing them, but still no response. This was back in the early to mid 2007 I believe. I am sketical of this company if it is real or not and have always been to this day. I am not here to criticize this company or bring any negative feedbacks to this company. This was my experience and if they were to just respond or email me a denial email, I would have understood.

  8. Nyron Telemaque Says:

    Hello
I have just applied for services here and have been reading some of the responses and comments about this service. Could you have some REAL testimonials on the site that customers would really relate too.

  9. Pamela Lundell-Real Says:

    Adam,

Yesterday (11-20-09), I signed up with your company paying them $199. According to your company representative Chris, I would receive a call within the next few minutes concerning a “webinar” class to get me started with Simplex and E-Bay. I did receive that call that scheduled me for 3:00 that same afternoon, however your representative left no information on how to connect to the class or any other contact information. I waited for the 3:00 call to me (since no information of who I was to call was given…they were too quick to hang up before I could ask questions…no caller ID information was available) and NOTHING! I was very excited when speaking to Chris, praying that this would be the company that would move me into a positive direction. I was soon dismayed and feel “scammed” after I tried desperately yesterday to get in contact with someone in your company that could help me. Your Company reps were QUICK to TAKE my money, but non responsive to GIVE information that was pertinent to my next steps in becoming active with your company. THIS IS THE TIME THAT YOU NEED TO IMMEDIATELY REFUND MY $199 AND CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP.

    @ Nyron Telemaque

Hey look a real testimonial posted right above my comment. Doesnt that inspire confidence?

  11. Adam Wilkinson Says:

    Hi Pamela,

I followed up on your account today and saw that we did issue a refund on Monday according to your request. I also got the following response from our account manager when I sent an email to find out why we dropped the ball on getting your account set up before the weekend and here was the response I received:

    “Adam,

Pamela purchased a Simplx membership from Chris. Chris talked to Carly on Friday to see if there was still a spot opened for training. Carly told him that there was. Chris asked if Carly could call and talk to Pamela to schedule her for the training session on Friday at 3 pm PST. Carly hurried and finished fulfilling her account and called her and talked with her about what to expect in the e-mail and in the training – it is 90 minutes and that it is on the computer and over the phone. After Carly got off the phone with her she sent her the e-mail. The e-mail sent at 10:41am. Carly verified the Pamela’s e-mail address as well and told her that if she did not receive the e-mail with in 20 minutes to call us back and we would give all of the information out to her over the phone. She called in on Saturday at 9:15 am saying that she did not receive any information about the training and that she wanted to cancel. I can go ahead and cancel this account and talk to Chris, but I just wanted to let you know what happened.”

    Adam,

Our business has been affiliated with Simplx for several months now. All we can say is BRAVO!!!
Simplx is the most direct link between us retailers
and Drop shipping companies. As far as Simplx “not working” for some of its clients goes… Well, Simplx is a business tool that needs to be used correctly. If a carpenter misuses a hammer, does that make the hammer defective? Keep up the great work!

  13. samuel Says:

brian can I please have your web address or ebay username? I would really like to see some actual results from this program.
    Thank you.

  14. john Says:

Brian what is you ebay name

  15. Matt Says:

After reading all I could find about Simplx, and finding more questions than answers. I decided I would try posting some of them here, in the hopes of clearing up some of my doubts.

First, why is it that a person interest in the company must first pay a fee to gather information about the company and what it has to offer? I haven’t found much online giving any details about what to expect once you begin working with Simplx, aside for some inconsistent reports about how much it costs to get started, which leads me to question number two.

How much are the programs, why aren’t they available for general viewing. Further more, why does it cost money to begin working with Simplx, doesn’t each account that begins working with Simplx bring in residual income for Simplx? Wouldn’t Simplx want to entice as many members as possible to us its program?

Third and I’ll make this my final query, why have there been so many posts about people not getting the support they believe they were promised? Although I have notice you guys are making a serious effort to rectify these past/present issues, it still leads me to wonder how much support will be given to people, specially those who have little experience in the online marketing realm.

Sorry for such a lengthy post and I know some of these questions might have been posted elsewhere, but I doubt I’m the only one concerned about these issues.

    Thanks

im getting ready to join simplex and i will post blog about it . they seem like good people after all they are in buss to help us all make money right

  17. Matt Says:

Thanks Charles, I’m looking forward to hearing what you find/think.

  18. Anthony C. Says:

Is there a list of companies and/or products that someone interested in Simplx can view?

  19. Scott Says:

Thats what I need to see – products and results that I can view. I do have interest and I have spoken with a rep. but that interest is fading fast with all of the unanswered questions and concerns in these blogs.

  20. mike Says:

the program seems to be a good idea.I am looking to start a business . Not just on ebay. But the more I read, The more questions and concerns I have.please help the people that really want to start a business to make it easier to grasp the info you have on your sight.
Because the more money your clients make the more you make. Doesnt make sent why you make it difficult to get started and to see some of the responces above it does make me alittle nervouse to get started with this company.

  21. Adam Says:

    Hi Matt,

I apologize for the delayed response to your blog comment. Normally I address these questions and concerns much more quickly, but I haven’t checked in here because of the holiday for awhile. Anyway, in answer to your first question Simplx has several different levels of membership based on the maturity and objectives of the business that is exploring Simplx membership. What I believe you are referring to is the $19.95 application fee that is only requested from established businesses and provides that business with special attention and care from our representatives for 30 days while they explore the Simplx opportunity for their business.

In answer to your second question, it is not unusual practice for a business to not publish a list of products and services that they offer on their website. With that being said, allow me to first say that any prospective Simplx member can get a good idea about pricing and package options by looking through the content on this blog. I have discussed this in various topics and in response to many comments in the past. We are working to continuously improve our products and as you read through the blog you will see that we are introducing new features and tools to our members on a regular basis. As such we introduce new packages and our pricing constantly changes. Also, our product and service for members is extremely unique and most prospective Simplx members won’t understand how the program can work best for their individual situation without consulting with one of our representatives. As such we reserve the presentation of product packages and pricing to our representatives after they have discussed their business objectives first.

I’m not sure what posts you are referring to in your last question. We do our best in providing top notch customer service to every Simplx member; we recognize where we fail and do our best to rectify those situations.

Thank you for all the great questions. I hope my response helps.

    Best Regards,
    Adam

  22. Adam Says:

    Anthony,

Simplx works with traditional retailers to provide you a commission when they drop ship a product for you. Most online retailers have joined the Simplx network and their products are available to be drop shipped. With more than 60 million products available through our merchant partners it is certain that you will be able to find the products that you are interested in selling.

    Best Regards,
    Adam

  23. Adam Says:

    Hi Scott,

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Simplx member. I think you will find a lot of the information and results you are looking for if you read through all of the blogs and comments. Two blogs that may be interesting for you are “I sold $250,000 last month with my Simplx account” and “I am a Titanium Powerseller.”

If you have any specific questions or concerns that you would like me to address feel free to post a follow up comment on the blog or you can drop me an email at Adam@Simplx.com.

    Best Regards,
    Adam

  24. Bill Says:

I am currently doing business with one of your competitors. I recently talked to one of your reps (Jeff) on the phone. I understood him to say the $19.95 fee I was charged was because I filed an application to be a supplier to Simplx vendors. In fact, I was just trying to find back-up suppliers He told me he would change the application to “individual”. Does this mean I should not have been charged the $19.95?

  25. Scott Says:

I am interested in Simplx and all it can do for me. After reading through the blog I also wondered why they do not list prices on the website. In all of my experience, companies that hide information and make you pay to learn about them are scams. In fact for anyone who wants a great deal, send me only $5.00 and I will tell you how you can make $100,000.00 a year in salary working minimal hours. Sounds good doesn’t it. Wanna know what I would tell you? Go to college and get a job. After hearing what I had to say, you no doubt call me a scammer, and I wouldn’t blame you.

I would like to see an answer to Jesse’s question. It is funny how certain posts not no response from Simplx.

“I have a question – observation. On your main website page http://www.simplx.com you use the Kodak z16 as example of a product I could sell. Would you be able to actually show any product examples that wouldn’t fail an elementary research tactic like checking completed auctions?”

Or What is Brian’s E-Bay name? He says he did well but no response to the question to his E-Bay name.

I wont be signing up until the tough questions are answered with quality answers.

  26. Holly Says:

I actually just got off of the phone with Chris, a representative. I have delt with a couple of similar companies that I was highly unimpressed with so I feel like I grilled him with questions pretty well.

One of my questions was “Is there any kind of money back garuntee if I find out that this really isn’t making me any money or helping my business at all?” The first answer that he gave me was “Yes, there is a 7 day return policy.” I told him I really wasn’t comfortable with that becuase it will take more than 7 days for me to figure out if the products are really going to sell and make me money like they should. He then told me that there is also a policy of a 1 year money back garuntee. He said that if you don’t make your money back within one year of signing up for the service you will be refunded every penny that you have paid Simplx, monthly fees and the one time enrollment fee, everything.

My question now is, “Is this 1 year money back garuntee true?” I would be much more willing to try this business if I had something on paper saying that if I did not make my money back I would be refunded 100% of the money I have paid to Simplx.

I do currently have an eBay store and I do not use DOBA or any other service becuase frankly I was unimpressed with their services. The things I sell I get directly from the manufacturer and they drop ship it for me. I’m interested in this service becuase I have found that the things I currently sell are overly saturated on eBay and people are somehow selling them for cheaper than I can buy them. I am looking a variety of other products to sell and cheap prices that will be competitive to all the other eBay sellers. I also take into account the eBay fees and PayPal fees. I need products that will sell for enough to pay for the fees on the sell as well as leave some money in my pocket.

I do understand that it takes money to make money but I have thrown away literally thousands of dollars with previous companies that were going to “help my business grow” and “teach me how to make a full time income from ebay”. I am not willing to risk another $200+ for another company that only slightly helps me make a couple of dollars on products that sell once every couple of months.

I would also like to see some ebay stores that are registered with your company. I would like to actually look at their feedback and such.

  27. Holly Says:

Oh and another thing, all of you who paid $19.95 to apply. I filled out the application but when I got to the part that asked for $19.95 to sumbit it I just closed out the screen. I did not pay $19.95 and I thought that my application had not gone through, yet today I got a call from Chris. So I don’t believe you have to pay $19.95 to submit an application.

  28. Adam Says:

Hey Holly thanks for your questions. I just checked out your eBay store and it looks like you are off to a great start.

Allow me to answer your question about the money back guarantee and then I will address the return policy. Yes we do provide a 100% money back guarantee for those customers that follow through with their commitments stated in the guarantee. Here is the guarantee:

    Money Back Guarantee

Our goal is to make sure you are satisfied with the services rendered. We are committed, with you as our client, to help you achieve your online goals. As we begin our work together, we feel it is important that you understand our Twelve (12) Month Money back Guarantee:
    Your Commitment:

    * Complete the dropship training sessions associated with your drosphip package
    * Complete the email survey following the Training Sessions
    * Download and read all training emails contained under the “Media Training” category
    * Download and listen to all audio trainings contained under the “Media Training” category
    * Download and watch all video trainings contained under the “Media Training” category
    * Pay monthly Account Maintenance and Service fee for twelve (12) consecutive months
    * Access the Mentor Hotline (hotline@dropshiphelp.net) for additional training and support
    * List at least one item on eBay or your personal web store each week for 52 consecutive weeks
    * Attend at least one continuing education course each month for twelve (12) consecutive months

    Our Commitment:

    * If you have completed your commitment above and have not recovered the initial investment, our company will offer the following:
o Refund the initial investment minus the cash-back earned and profit from sales on eBay over the twelve (12) month period.

We are confident that every one of our customers that follows through with those commitments will at least recover their initial investment or we will provide you with a full refund.

The return policy is always an item of debate in our upper management meetings and I think it is perfectly fine in this forum to present the dilemma that we are faced with as it seems like we are always making changes to the policy. The Simplx drop shipping model can help anyone make money, but most of our customer cancellations come before the return policy is expired. The dilemma is we want to allow customers adequate time to experience Simplx to make sure the product was accurately represented to them by our sales people, but our surveys indicate that most customers cancel within the return period because they didn’t make their initial investment back or believe that they would not be able to make it back. If you have followed any of my posts on this blog and can see my passion for the Simplx product and helping our members make money on eBay you will understand our dilemma in even having a return policy at all. We want our customers to be able to receive a full refund for quality control purposes with our sales team, but when customers cancel for the wrong reason we feel like we are doing something wrong. Most likely we will continue to make adjustments with the policy, but my message for those that purchased the Simplx product in order to make money is that you purchased the product for the right reason so don’t worry about the return policy……rather you should set your sights and goals on the money back guarantee.

  29. Adam Says:

Holly the application fee ensures that you get top priority and contacted first from our team of representatives that work with businesses. If you fill out the application and select the “new business” there is a set of different offers presented.
